Under-10 Tokyo Soccer Championship

…it was a little bit on the wet side. I had a JJC lens raincover in my bag though, first time to use it, and it did the job admirably. Even rotating the lens through 90 degrees for horizontal or landscape shots, as the cover attaches to the lens hood, didn’t make any problem.

don't look back...in anger

recently had the opportunity of accreditation for the World U-12 Soccer Championships, held right here in Tokyo. this is the kind of shot I really enjoy producing…sure I took a boat load of action pix on the field, but this means so much more. much more a documentary type shot.

the Liverpool players’ heads are already bowed, almost as though they know what they are in for, playing against the mighty Barcelona FC, in 35 degree heat.

hanging around the Aijinmoto Stadium, a couple of hours before the soccer game started. it’s a dramatic structure, looks a bit like a fifties style flying saucer from the exterior. inside though is dreary grey concrete and seating. yawn.

here I’ve used a 400mm telephoto lens to compress the perspective, the seats all look slightly two dimensional, and this steward is helpfully standing at the intersection, or so it appears, right as the sun drops in the sky, giving those distinctive shadows.
